Youth Place
Important Information
Youth Place assists young people aged 15 – 25 years who are single, a couple or a young family who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and have barriers that prevent them from being a valued member of the community. This is achieved by offering case management and advocacy to ensure our clients have the opportunity to achieve lasting outcomes towards sustainable independence. Each young person will be assessed on suitability and be allocated to the appropriate stream—internal or external case management.
There are two streams of case management:

Internal case management— provided to clients residing Youth Place property

External case management— provided to clients who are not residing in a Youth Place property. Support to these clients includes assistance with securing stable accommodation.
Youth Housing Support Workers aim to assist young people to:

Find and maintain accommodation, establish a home with the purchase of basic furniture, white goods etc.

Resolve financial and legal issues.

Access education and training.

Establish or re-establish links with community support networks including recreation and health.
Other support includes group sessions which focus on:

Enhancing independent living skills which may include cooking, budgets, cleaning, good neighbour relations, health and hygiene.

Understanding tenancy, including the rights and responsibilities of the tenant.
Accessing this Service
Referrals to Youth Place may come from a young person, the family, a professional or NAHA accommodation providers in the south metropolitian area. Referrals can be made from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday by calling 9425 5200.
All referrals must be made with client consent.
Community Support
The Youth Place program is delivered in partnership with St Patricks Community Support Centre and is funded by the Department of Child Protection.
